Microbial Life at Thermodynamic Limits: Linking Low Energy Metabolism and High-Temperature Adaptation
Collaborators: Regis Ferriere, Solange Duhamel, Francois Guyot, Aurore Gorlas, Antonin Affholder and you?
Join me in my research as I explore how cellular complexity and energy dynamics play a role in organisms' ability to adapt to various temperatures. In the course I am trying to address the following question: How low-temperature organisms evolved a high temperature lifestyle? How did the ancestral high-temperature organisms inhabit and adapt to low-temperature environments? Why can’t modern-day low-temperature organisms evolve hyperthermophily?
